Twitter now has over 200 million active users per month

Twitter announced via a tweet that the service already has over 200 million active users per month.

Although this figure is far from Facebook which has just announced that it has 1,000 million active users per month, it is one more important figure and we can say without fear of being mistaken, that while Facebook is important when propagating news to the few moments that happen, Twitter with fewer active users, is perhaps the best of both in this issue and the most consulted when developing an important event.

This year was one of the most productive for Twitter that after five years since its foundation, managed to reach the 140 million active users (March 2012) and in just nine months, from March to December, that figure rose to 60 million.

Twitter probably makes an announcement through its blog with more figures, as it does every so often, so if that happens, we will have to both.
